Driving in the Snow
Wednesday, January 19th, 2005It was probably the worst day to wake up 25 minutes before class when your commute to school is 20 minutes by itself. Anyhow, its 11:35 and my mom wakes me up wondering if I have class today. It takes me 10 seconds to realize what is going on and then I just jump off the bed in a rush. I brush my teeth, change my clothes, and am out in the next 15 minutes. Mind you it’s 11:50 by now and my class is at 12:00.
The worst was yet to come. I look outside and everything is convered in snow. Aw man! Luckily, I had parked my car inside the garage so no car cleaning involved (phew!). Anyways, I set out on my daily commute to school and it was hard to go 20mph without having your car slip.
I decide to take I-95 just like I do everyday and to my surprise, it was jammed. However, the jams were temporary as within 3 miles, I saw at least 10 cars and trucks on the median or the shoulder with at least 6 police cars and 5 fire trucks. All together there might have been 4-5 separate incidents.
Long story short, a 20 minute commute took me an hour.
