Canada May Allow Small Amounts of Marijuana

Wednesday, May 28th, 2003

Now this is what I’m talking about. Yes you read it right … Canada may allow small amounts of marijuana. The decision (bad decision) to smoke marijuana has a serious penalty attached to it as of now. Canada is just decriminalizing the offense and making it a ticketable offense. “possession of up to 15 grams of marijuana, about half an ounce, would become punishable by fines of up to the equivalent of about $290 U.S. for adults and $182 for minors” (from washingtonpost.com). So in effect, if you are found possessing weed, you would get a ticket as opposed to getting arrested and getting a criminal record. This is reasonable as far as I think because I don’t think that possessing or smoking weed is a criminal act … its just bad for you like cigarettes and shouldn’t be done. The government should try to influence the decisions of people through programs and education but by no means should the government penalize ‘cruelly and unusually’ if a person does decide to smoke weed. Even our constitution guards us against cruel and unusual punishment … how is criminalization of marijuana justice then?

Tuition Hike threats

Friday, May 9th, 2003

Whatsup with the tuition increase threats? It is totally ridiculous! Higher education is one of the worst places to cut money from because this is where the future of the city springs from. $67 million is being proposed to be cut from about 13 institutions around the state*! Bob Ehrlich … hire a good advisor please and by the way, where ARE you spending all that money anyways. We understand that you were elected because you promised that you wouldn’t raise the sales and income taxes but that doesn’t mean that you do something much worse. If need be, raise those sales taxes … its 10% in D.C. anyways. Did you know that the renowned Computer Science department at UMD would have to scale back course offerings because the university’s hiring freeze prevents the department from filling up its 4 vacant faculty positions and 20 vacant T.A. positions*! Do you really want the university to loose its reputation so that students no more come from out of state to study here and your economy gets pushed more down the drain. Oops I forgot, by the time the effects of your cuts start showing up, you would be out of office and don’t even think about re-election because you pissed off almost everybody. Do you realize how much sponsored research comes into the state because of the faculty at these colleges in the state. According to President Mote, faculty members bring in about $225,000 on an average in sponsored research*. Do you really want to lose all that money by forcing the universities to cut down on faculty members? You know what you need to do?

You first off need to stop hugging fat ugly women:

Let mayor Guilliani go … he’s almost in tears for god’s sake:

Ok, now its fat ugly and OLD women:

That’s it for now but my point is watch out before you piss the terps off. Peace.

Shooting at Maryland

Sunday, April 27th, 2003

I’m sure most of you have heard about the recent shooting at Maryland (University of Maryland). It is totally ridiculous how these people can easily get guns. What use are licensing regulations for such arms? I mean what is the point of owning a gun unless you are in the military? And I think recreational hunting is the most ridiculous excuse for getting a gun. It should be illegal to shoot at birds and animals just because of humane reasons.

Ki Seong Kim - the man involved in the recent shooting at the University. (from washingtonpost.com)

Such people who have temperament disorders should not be allowed to possess any harmful arms.
