VMWARE Server and Windows 2003 SP2
Did you upgrade your virtual machine to Windows Server 2003 SP 2 and found that the network adapter no longer works? This is a common problem on VMWARE server (2.0 in my case).
To fix this, install Vmware tools on the virtual machine. You can kick-off the installation using the Vmware Server homepage on the physical host.

Thanks! Had the same problem.
A thousand blessings and a carrot cake to whoever posted this. You just solved a problem that was driving me up the wall for a week. One addition, though- at least in my case, we don’t need to run the VMWARE Home Server webpage on the host station. The webpage is hosted via IIS so once VMWARE tools is installed you can install R2 from any machine by using IE and then connecting to HTTP:\\:
Thanks!!!
