ALL BLOGS update

Sunday, January 30th, 2005

I made a little update to the ALL BLOGS script. Apparantly I heard complaints of it being slow and sometimes it didn’t even show up!

Now, as it is working its way through the various websites, it’ll give you a little status update on what it is doing now. I hope nobody minds! Actually I think the tech junkies might actually like the feature. As always, I am open to suggestions.

Overslept

Thursday, January 27th, 2005

I overslept on the SECOND day of classes! WTF? This is insane … I got up and turned off TWO alarms and overslept by 2.5 hours. Its not like I didn’t get ’nuff sleep - I got 8 hours plus these extra 2.5. I just feel so guilty - yuck! I wonder how soon Sue is going to start oversleeping for her 8′o clock class?

Rebirth of an idea

Tuesday, January 25th, 2005

For all of you who have been patient with me, I THANK YOU. For you guys, here it is again - Automatically Sorted ALL BLOGS!

I made time zone adjustments because everybody publishes their feeds in a different time zone (tell me about it!) So if you see an instance where a certain blog is not ‘in place’ then let me know, It’s probably a time zone adjustment error.

If you go to http://www.pranavsharma.com/allblogs and it still tries to redirect you to the OLD ALL BLOGS then clear your cache. To do so, do either one of the following:

1) When it says “Redirecting you to the OLD ALLBLOGS in 2 seconds …”, quickly hit F5 to refresh the page. (OR)
2) In Internet Explorer, click Tools>Internet Options…, click on Clear History.

Ambar and Mohit’s blogs are the only ones that are not publishing feeds. I have requested them to activate that feature but until then, their blogs have been manually pushed to the bottom.

Once again, keep in mind that it does take about 2-3 seconds to Access all the blogs and to calculate which one goes where. So be patient once you click on the link.

I also made the individual frames a little bigger - Width went from 97% to 100% and the height went from 500px to 600px. Any feedback on these settings will be seriously considered and quickly implemented (because it’s so darn easy haha).

Working on a Sunday night

Sunday, January 23rd, 2005

I just submitted my Project for my winter class about 2 hours ago. I doesn’t feel like a break in the sense that winter break is supposed to be. However, I do feel somehow in the mood for academia. I feel i will be more prepared for the coming semester (2 days after my final) than some other folks who have turned off their think tanks for 4 weeks. I just hope I’m right this time.

Just not cut out for an A

Saturday, January 22nd, 2005

For those of you who don’t know it, I am taking a winter class and my final exam is on Monday. This is my problem - Out of all the projects and quizzes and midterms, I have NOT scored below 90 at all. How is that a problem? Well it’s a problem because the class is a pass/fail class! I guess somebody out there is playing a dirty little game with me.

Driving in the Snow

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

It was probably the worst day to wake up 25 minutes before class when your commute to school is 20 minutes by itself. Anyhow, its 11:35 and my mom wakes me up wondering if I have class today. It takes me 10 seconds to realize what is going on and then I just jump off the bed in a rush. I brush my teeth, change my clothes, and am out in the next 15 minutes. Mind you it’s 11:50 by now and my class is at 12:00.

The worst was yet to come. I look outside and everything is convered in snow. Aw man! Luckily, I had parked my car inside the garage so no car cleaning involved (phew!). Anyways, I set out on my daily commute to school and it was hard to go 20mph without having your car slip.

I decide to take I-95 just like I do everyday and to my surprise, it was jammed. However, the jams were temporary as within 3 miles, I saw at least 10 cars and trucks on the median or the shoulder with at least 6 police cars and 5 fire trucks. All together there might have been 4-5 separate incidents.

Long story short, a 20 minute commute took me an hour.

Data Recovery & Pictures

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

Well, If you guys had visisted my site in the past week, you’d have had seen how much of a mess it had turned into. It happened because my click-happy fingers deleted the entire contents of pranavsharma.com.

All that was left was the surface crust - the individual pages in which each entry was stored. I was working for the past week on restoring this website. I was surprised to find out that there existed morons as dumb as me out there and fortunately there was some support on how to go about restoring my data.

Also, the pictures section is up and has 9 NEW albums which are worth checking out: http://www.pranavsharma.com/pictures. Now that I have a digital camera, expect a whole lot of pictures in that section of this website.

It’s 3 in the AM and I am exhausted. I have a lot of stuff to write but will do that later in the week. For now, just a status update.

PS: By the way, if you guys see ANYTHING wrong, just shoot me an email (contactpranav(at)hotmail.com) or post a comment. Since most of the restoration was done manually, it is hard to do it perfectly. Any extra lines or format problems or ANYTHING, just let me know. Thanks in advance
