Squarespace is some Bull$hit

Friday, August 13th, 2004

In light of the recent mishap with ALLBLOGS, I emailed Squarespace with the following message-

Subject: Squarespace Inquiry – I’d like to report a problem
————————————————————-

The ATOM, RSS and RDF feeds for ALL Squarespace websites show an XML
error. For further reference please see:

http://pranav.squarespace.com/journal/atom.xml

I access about 7 SquareSpace users’ websites and used their feeds to
read their blogs. All of them have malfunctioned starting yesterday.

And this is the response I got from them-

If you view source on that page–you will notice that Squarespace is
restricting XML syndication due to the account level of the account
you’re referencing. XML syndication is limited to users with basic or
higher accounts.

We will revisit if we should make this a free feature or not–though it
was always listed as a basic level feature, I believe.

Thanks for the heads up, though. We’ll adjust the error message to look
ok in XML.

Basically, Anthony is trying to point out that the FEEDS were a PAID feature. That is some BS because most of your accounts had expired and were downgraded to FREE accounts and you still had access to the FEEDS.

Matter of fact, he changed the error message from a general XML message to the following-

«?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″ ?»
- «!– Generated by Squarespace Site Server v2.0 (http://www.squarespace.com/) on Fri, 13 Aug 2004 16:43:49 BST

«error-message»This premium feature is restricted by your current account level. Please upgrade if you wish to access it.«/error-message»

Screw Verizon’s GetItNow!

Friday, August 6th, 2004

Anybody who has Verizon is familiar with their rip-off scheme called GetItNow. So earlier this week, I decided that this is it! I am going to find a way to GET AROUND GetItNow.

3 Days later, I have new found respect for my skills and a way to take pictures and songs from my computer and put them on my phone as wallpapers and RINGTONES!

Don’t ask me how I did it cuz that would get too technical. Let’s just say that it wasn’t easy. In short, it involves copying everything on the phone to the computer and then changing the ringtones and wallpaper and putting everything back on the phone. It works even though it sounds simple!

The only regret I have is that my phone sucks! It can only take clips that are about 4 seconds long (Good Quality Sound) or 8 seconds (Low Quality Sound). All that work for 4 seconds of audio? It may be worth it.

Any suggestions on what I can put on there that would sound good in 4 seconds? I CAN record my own voice also but that’s too cheesy. I am very happy now! Verizon can kiss my behind!
