If they were to place blind faith in this concept then everything outside the realm of everyday life would be explained by conservative religious people as the will of god. That is the most compelling reason WHY scientists and engineers need to question the existence of god so that they can find out the truth about him. You don't know what is in the bushes unless you enter them. If you stay outside the bushes then you'll never uncover the truth about what lay beyond the familiar road.
