TV Tuner card

Tuesday, March 30th, 2004

I’m looking for a good and cheap TV Tuner card. Anybody have suggestions? I looked at the AITech WaveWatcher TV-PCI card (OEM version)

The only problem … this version is not suppoted under Windows XP.

So let me know if you guys have any suggestions or anything. By the way, I bought the Logitech Z-640 speaker system after reconsidering the proposition a million times. I had a $50 gift certificate from 2 years ago that I never used and it was about to expire. So I exchanged it for an Amazon.com gift certificate and got the following system for $46.94 and free shipping.

Thanks to Vishal, I am satisfied with my purchase. I am fulfilling a lifelong dream of having a TV in the bedroom. Ami, dare you say anything … just anything and you won’t hear the end of it ever! In any case, I am planning to hook up my PS2 to my computer which would be awesome! What do y’all think?

Procrastination

Monday, March 29th, 2004

Oh the pleasures of procrastinating! Look at the time … thes 2:30 in the morning on my first day of school after spring break. I’m doing HW! It’s retarted to have HW right after break but I guess I didn’t keep that in mind when I signed up to present on the 29th! In any case … I’m off to bed and hopefully no more late nights.

Tequila Beach

Friday, March 26th, 2004

Tequila beach is one of the most enjoyable clubs in downtown D.C. I’d say it was about the first club I’ve been to where the bouncer was nice and talkative. Cover charge was $10 for guys and $7 for girls. When you first walk in, you see a big shark hanging from the ceiling. It is unmistakably staring into your eyes as if it was telling you not to mess around. Then as you walk up the steps, you see a very different environment. There is a dance floor of course in the first half of the room, but as you keep moving on, the bar is occupying the other half of the room. You also see TVs all around the place playing soprts games. Then you have the option of going upstairs where another bar is located and here the atmosphere is different altogether. It seems like a laid down bar as opposed to a club. There are tables and chairs and couches for people to sit down, relax and enjoy their drinks. If you’re curious, water bottles are $3, beer bottles are $2 (I didn’t buy any, I just saw them being bought) and simple drinks like Vodka & Tonic were about $6. There is a part of the upper level from where you can eyeball the activities of the dance floor downstairs. Once again, there is a big shark hanging from the ceiling blocking your view and you don’t want to mess with it! The lighting was also very different from traditional clubs. It was much brighter but not too bright. The whole amibiance made you feel at home and comfortable. When the party picked up, the whole place was crowded shoulder to shoulder. They had a good DJ and a goofy guy with a microphone organizing little games on the dance floor (they were fun to watch). We were kicked out at 2:00 and it seemed too soon. However, I didn’t have any regrets about going there last night. One thing that did bother me was when the bouncer at the door told me that I couldn’t take with me my almost empty bottle of water (I paid 3 dollars for it!) This happens at every club and they never let you take out any object from the inside to the outside. Be it a water bottle or a small cherry. If anybody know why, let me know.

Tequila beach is located on 1115 F St NW, Washington, DC. They don’t have a website yet but call them at (202) 393-5463.

The Crowd was a good crowd. None of the college freshmen or anything like that. The chics were hot and hotter. The music included good dance numbers and mainly hip-hop.

Ah-Hah!

I knew I wasn’t crazy … it IS possible! Check it out …

This unit about the size of a cigarette lighter projects a laser image of a full sized keyboard onto your desk or whatever and uses a camera to sense the co-ordinates of your ‘taps’ (no double meaning intended ladies). It is a very nifty idea that I have told some people about for the past 1-2 years. I gess it took them so long to bring it into production. This is definitely worth it for your cellphone or pda. I mean imagine sitting in them boring lectures typing away, surfing the internet and finding more interesting items like this. Actually, better pay attention to the professor … HAH!

Oh the Pleasures of sleeping late

Monday, March 22nd, 2004

You open your eyes and you can’t see the clock and you think … ‘Ah! Who cares, it’s spring break.’ An hour later and the same story. Before you know it, you’ve done this 4-5 times and its 1:00 pm. Then you get up and look for breakfast but something doesn’t seem right … it’s lunch time. Then you start watching TV and get caught in the lineup that is offered through 4:00pm. At that point, you get up, brush your teeth and take a shower. By the way did I mention checking your email atleast 15 times in the past 3 hours? So then you get to 6:00pm and then the good stuff on TV starts and before anybody knows it … it’s 12:00am. Then you know its time to hit the bed cuz it’s been a long and arduous day!

Interesting Scenario

Friday, March 19th, 2004

I’ve told this story before to some of you… two ladies are checking out some TVs at Sears and I go over to them and you know, they’re both middle aged … look like mother and daughter … and so I put on a smile on my face and grip my Binder in my hand and I say, “HI! Can I help you guys with something?”

At this point, the elder one gives me a mean look and goes, “We’re not guys, we’re ladies.”

(pretty awkward situation huh?)
