National Do Not Call Registry
Are you tired of Telemarketers calling your house? The government finally decided to step in and came up with the idea of the National Do Not Call Registry. Telemarketers are required to honor the list unless they want to pay fines of upto $11,000 per caller. The registry does not cover all telemarketing calls however, you may still receive calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors or companies with which you have an existing business relationship.

I think its really neat, but then how will the telemarketing business survive??
in the world of capitalism, some businesses (especially annoying ones!) have to be wiped out.
That has been up for like 2 mnths, but I don’t think they have started actually working.
You’re right, the list has been up for a little over two months now but it goes in effect starting October. There is a 3 month grace period that these companies are given and after that, if you keep getting calls, file a complaint at the same website so that the government can fine them.
BTW karthik, you are right on the dot about wiping out some businesses, especially ones that don’t make you happy at all.
