I was swimming in the pool at the CRC. The pool is huge for those who don’t know but I think the team was practicing and there were a couple of classes going on. That didn’t leave much room for other people like us. I was in the shallow region where they didn’t have lane dividers. So, I was just chillin’ there, had just finished racing Ami and was getting ready for another race. So the time comes for another race and this time we decide that we will not go together since there was no room for 2 people to squeeze through. We would go in succession and keep tab by the clock. So I get ready, push my legs against the wall and take off with a great start. I gave it a second or two before I started moving my arms. And before I know it, something hits me hard in the head. I get up and see another guy standing up with his hand on his head. I apologized to him and all that good stuff. After that, I said to myself: that’s it! I’m going home. After coming back to the locker room, I looked in the mirror and there was a noticeable bump on my head. And the only thought that was running through my mind during this whole incident was: “If this can happen to 2 people in a swimming pool and it can hurt like this, then I just shudder to imagine what it would be like to have a head-to-head collision with a fast moving car!” Oh well, I learnt my lesson and I’ll be damned if you find me swimming in a crowded pool again.
PS: Well that is unless the pool is full of hot chicks ![]()
Last Saturday, there was a garba at UMD. It was well organized and surprisingly, it was on schedule! There was definitely a huge Indian crowd - a number I have never seen together. Ritu was telling me that they sold 963 tickets. That’s a whole lot of freaking indians. It was fun though. I didn’t realize that it took so much coordination to get as little as 10 people to hit their sticks at the same time. I’ll definitely look forward to more events organized by the HSC.
Yesterday I signed up for a weight training class at MD. After attending the class, I found out that since I signed up late, I already have 3-4 absences and university requirements state that nobody can miss more than 5 labs. Which means, I better get my behind to that gym every Monday and Wednesday if I don’t want to fail a stupid activities class. For some reason though, I have no problem with that because I know that this is the only way I’m going to get some exercise throughout the semester. I mean my options were: a) taking that class to force me to work out every week OR b) rely on my lazy ass to get to the gym every week. What would you have chosen?
Where in hell is Citadel? Anybody watch the game last night? Get this … by the end of the 1st quarter, we were leading 24 nothing and by half-time, it was 44-nothing. We decided to leave the game at that point and I finally found out that Citadel lost with us scoring a 61 against their 0! Now what is the Citadel coach gonna say to its team? I wonder!
I think this is all a big conspiracy to trap innocent students. My engineering class has its lectures in the chemistry building. 1402 CHM is the room code with the CHM standing for chem. Today, I had my first discussion for that class today and the room code was 2116 CHE. So I go to the chemistry building and go upstairs to the second floor. I pass 2124 on the right and then I see the restroom. I decide to go in for a quick restroom break before finding my classroom. As I come out, a guy asks me, “Are they having ENEE 244 discussion in there?” It suddenly dawned upon me. I look up above the restroom and see that it is labelled as 2116. WHAT? Must be a typo in the schedule or I must have read it wrong. The reason I say that is because there was no TA when I went into the restroom. So frantically, the other guy, another lost girl and I look for the right classroom. The funny thing is that we met three other girls who had class in 2120 and they were lost just like us. 2120 btw is the women’s restroom. I split up to go to the library and check my emails because I suspected that the instructor emailed about a typo on the room assignments. That went in vain too. Finally, somebody broke it to me … it was 2116 CHE, not CHM! A whole different building. I didn’t end up going because it was too late and it would hurt my dignity to walk in at this point. So I just went back to the Chemistry building as if nothing happened and sat down in the hallway bench and started reading my engineering book as if I was better off doing that anyways instead of attending the stupid discussion.
Are you tired of Telemarketers calling your house? The government finally decided to step in and came up with the idea of the National Do Not Call Registry. Telemarketers are required to honor the list unless they want to pay fines of upto $11,000 per caller. The registry does not cover all telemarketing calls however, you may still receive calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors or companies with which you have an existing business relationship.
