Bruce Almighty

Saturday, June 14th, 2003

This movie is all in all a good movie. This is one movie that I enjoyed thoroughly. I know I also said that I like Anger Management so why would anybody take my word for this movie? OK so here is the deal: Anger Management was pathetically funny. I mean it made me laugh at its pitifulness and the lack of good sensed humor.

On the other hand, Bruce Almighty is a funny movie with an edge. It makes one think about the reality of things and the power of GOD, if there is one might I add. This movie has some sensible humor and I think Jim Carrey does the role superbly. Maybe I’m just impressed because Carrey carried himself with more grace in this movie than he usually does in his movies. All in all, it was worth my money.

Interview jitters

Thursday, June 12th, 2003

First off, the rain is just pissing me off. And the only reason that I’m so pissed off is because of the stupid worms that keep crawling all around … aaagghh!

Now that we have that out of the way, I have an interview tomorrow and I’m kinda nervous. My hands are clammy and I just don’t want to go through the nervousness of sitting there answering questions from somebody who will decide whether or not to employ me. Let me go tweak that resume …

Working on a Resume

Wednesday, June 11th, 2003

Something I really hate doing is working on my resume. Its really hard I mean what do you put in and what do you take out. Think about it, you learned how to work all these neat little things in MS Excel like in High School but do you still know how to conditionally display error messages in a particular column against a spreadsheet of data? I don’t even understand what I just said. In any case my point is that working on a resume is the most horrible task one has to do and there it is … a snapshot of your life, in your hands and now in your interviewers’ hands. Can you put it all down on paper? Something to think about.

Its a start I guess!

I promised everybody something by Tuesday and here it is … the index page in a condition that satisfies me. Oh trust me there is a lot of thinking and consulting (mainly Ritu) that I went through before settling for this design. And the other pages are just a mess. Some of them don’t even have links setup for them. The navigation bar is going to have much more stuff on it in the very new future. Feel free to comment on the design under this entry. I am however, going to build a separate section where people can submit their “Ideas for Improvement”. This should be coming very very soon and trust me, I need those ideas … my creative edge is not very sharp right now. Hope you guys are encouraging about the new design. Bon Apetit.

I hate worms

Wednesday, June 4th, 2003

First of all, this rainy business has got to stop real soon or I’ll shoot somebody. Is this what a summer looks like? No! not at all. The weather should force us to pack our bags and go to the beach or take a trip to the amusement park. This freaking chilly and rainy weather sucks and I can’t take it any more. The worst thing about the rainy weather besides the damp clothes is the fact that a million worms crawl out of nowhere onto the streets and the sidewalks. It was so hard for me to walk from the Stamp Union to my parking lot after work just because I had to walk darn slow and make sure that I don’t kill any of these stupid little worms. Not only do I not want to commit the sin of murder, I just don’t want to clean their gooey mess from my shoes if I do step on them.

In India, our garage used to get full of these stupid worms and I used to freak out as a kid because I considered them the babies of dangerous snakes. This nightmarish disgust for worms has stuck through ever since.

Drunk driver?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2003

I was on my way to school this morning around 8:30′ish and this guy tried to change lanes right after a red light and he realized that I was coming in his intended lane at considerable speed and he swerved back into his lane. I didn’t think much of it until about 5 minutes later I see him driving on the shoulder. Here’s what happened: on Riggs rd. going south, the road is two lanes wide near Cherry hill road and one of those lanes turns into a right turn only lane. This guy went from the right turn only lane and tried to squeeze his old Cadillac onto the tiny shoulder to overtake the car going in the normal lane. I thought to myself, damn! this guy drives worse than me.

Well, for about the next few minutes, I was following him just because I was going the same way and this guy just crossed the yellow line like a million times … not completely though. At that point I figured that the guy was probably drunk. I thought to myself, “should I call 911 and follow this guy? It’ll be a lot of fun and I’m late for class anyways so this’ll get me an excuse”. Well I decided not to call 911 just because I didn’t wanna go through any hassles and I don’t think that the guy would’ve intended or coused any damage. When I finally got to peek into his car cuz I was turning, I saw the guy almost sleeping on his steering wheel while waiting for the light to turn green. I think the poor guy was just way too sleepy. Oh well, all I have to say is that I really dislike drunk drivers because of the mere fact that they can hurt innocent people.

Horrible day

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2003

Summer Session I started yesterday (Monday). I’m pursuing hopelessly and mindlessly a ‘wonderful’ class called DANC200. Yes! ’tis a dance class - somebody get me out. One may ask as to WHY did I signup for this class, and you probably have a better excuse than me. It does help with fulfilling the University’s CORE (General Education) requirements (HA:History of Arts, I think).

So every Monday thru Thursday, I have to wake up by 7:30, leave by 8:05, park and walk for like 20 minutes to class and stay there from 9:00 to 10:45. Let me just tell you how I felt on the first day of class. First of all, finding the class was a pain and I swear I saw atleast five signs telling me where to turn to get to my classroom - it was so complicatingly located inside the building! And on top of that, there are only 9 people in the class! Talk about trying to avoid class participation.

Well, after class, I have to go to work and work an 8 hour shift. Then, by the time I’m done, I’ll be home by like 9:30 or so. After that, dinner and then stupid HW time. The reading is just a mother-load. Today itself, being the first day and all, we had to read Chapters 1,2,3 & 5 from the text book and Chapters 1,2,3,4 & 5 from the course packet. Then do an 18 question worksheet on the reading for 2 points. After we left class, she decided to be nice and dropped off the last 8 questions from the worksheet and chapters 3 & 5 from the reading list.

Notice how I wrote a lot about my class because I’m freaking tired and sleepy right now and its all because of the stupid readings for this class. Anyways, besides that, it was a good day, nice temperature, good breeze and most importantly, I was inside the whole day (being sarcastic).
